The direction West is often associated as the gateway to the underworld. In Egyptian Mythology the west was the direction associated with the afterlife. (They called it the land of the dead Amenti, meaning “The West”) I call myself West cause I have been feeling a clear call to channel the unconscious, the mystical and perhaps even the dead through my writings and art.
